Policies

Library Cards

  1. Residents and taxpayers of the town of Warren and Salamonie Township are issued cards free of charge.
  2. Non-residents will be issued borrower cards upon the payment of a yearly non-resident fee as determined by the Indiana State Library.


Loans

  1. All periodicals, videos, and DVDs are loaned for a period of three days without renewal privileges. Books are loaned for two weeks with renewal privileges, unless the book is on a reserve list.
  2. Patrons may request an item be reserved for them, and they will be notified when that item is returned and available.


Fines

  1. A fine of 10¢ per day (except for videos and DVDs) will be charged for each overdue item. (See visual materials policy below for fines on overdue videocassettes and DVDs.) The fine shall not exceed the replacement cost of the item.
  2. For lost items, the cost of the replacement plus any other costs will be charged.
  3. Patrons who have large unpaid fines, or who fail to return or pay for lost library materials, will have their library privileges suspended, or, in extreme cases, may be subject to prosecution (Indiana Code 20-13-31).


Visual Materials

  1. Any person with a valid Warren Public Library card who does not have overdue materials or owe an overdue fine may borrow visual materials.
  2. A maximum of four videotapes/DVDs per family may be checked out.
  3. Videocassettes/DVDs are loaned for three days.
  4. An overdue fine of $1.00 per video will be charged for each day overdue. Any video/DVD not returned within 7 days will be considered lost and the patron will be charged for the full price of the item.
  5. Do not return a video/DVD in the book drop. You may place it in the designated slot in the east door.
  6. Reserves will not be taken.
  7. Any damage discovered by the patron should be reported to the library. If the video/DVD is damaged, the patron is responsible for the full price of the item. The Warren Public Library is not responsible for any damage a video or DVD may cause to a patron's video equipment.


Computer Resources and Policies
     Four public access computers are available to patrons. A number of educational games are available, with emphasis on children's titles. Word processing is available, as well as Internet access. The policies below are a summary only. Please request a complete acceptable use policy from the library staff.

  1. Users must have a valid library card, have no overdue library materials, and have all fines and fees paid.
  2. Computers may be used for one hour per day. Users may reserve a computer to complete an assignment. Reserved computers will be held for 10 minutes after the scheduled time. The hour time limit will begin at the originally scheduled time.
  3. Children under the age of 18 must have parental permission to use library computers.
  4. Children under the age of ten must be supervised by an adult.
  5. Patrons may use the library's paper in the printer. Users will be charged 25¢ per printed color page, 15¢ for black and white.
  6. No more than two persons may be at a workstation at one time without permission of staff.
  7. All patrons who wish to use the library computer equipment are required to sign and date a Limitation of Liability agreement.
